On April 20, 2013 Big Sky Race Team members Peggy Stringer, Lisa Bush, Amanda Richtscheid and Rick Bush competed in the Grizz Sprint Triathlon. This early season race is a wonderful way to kick-off the tri season! Early competitors raced in cold weather.  At 1pm the brutal winds kicked up with gusts up to 30 miles an hour.  But the weather warmed up to upper 40’s which made the bike ride and run not quite as cold.  Peggy had a four minute transition from the swim to the bike. Someone said you could wear your swim cap under your helmet to keep you warm. She put her helmet over her swim cap and tried to put on her sun glasses. After may tries to put on her sun glasses over her swim cap, she took off the helmet and swim cap! Moral of the story do not try something new in a race!

Sprint triathlons are a 1000 yard swim, 20 K bike and 5 k run.

Peggy won her age group and placed 55 out of 184 female racers with a time of 1:33:31. Amanda had a great race coming in 29th position with a time of 1:28:13. Lisa was inspirational she raced the Grizz with a time of 1:52:41 when the weather was extremely cold, and raced a 30K run after the Tri! Rick Bush had a great race and was really happy with his swim 19:52 and finished in 1:38:05.
